1. Last Monday night, my friend Liz and I were walking at a sidewalk inside a subdivision. We were looking for a birthday present. Suddenly, a lady who was wearing a nice silver lace around her waist caught our attention. The silver thing was very shiny and its design was unique. Liz couldn’t stop herself so she asked the pretty lady where she bought the lace. We found out the lace or braid is called an orris and is made from pure gold or silverworks. Obviously, Liz and I liked the orris and she planned to buy one soon as a birthday gift.

2. I was assigned to present a certain topic in our Economics 4 class. That task was not new to me anymore. I am used to be assigned to report in front of the class since in my elementary days. But when the day of reporting came, I felt jitters. I didn’t understand but there was something different in me that I got nervous. But still I was thankful that I was able to finish my report successfully.

3. I dislike people who are squeamish because whenever I encounter someone that is very sensitive, I don’t feel comfortable. I think that they’re overacting or just simply trying hard. I can’t stay with them for a long time, maybe because I’m not into dramatic side and I’m more of a fun and jolly person. But I think I’ll soon get use to it as I grow older.

4. I envy girls who have a clear and smooth complexion – girls with flawless skin. But I got mystified when I first saw a girl with a moustache. I thought it was artificial but I found out that it was real. Moustaches are normal for men because it gives them extra appeal and is brought about by their hormones. Moustache for a girl is not appropriate and I think it should be removed to see the true shape of the lips and beauty of the girl.

5. While waiting for a TV show, a movie trailer was showed. I didn’t exactly remember the title but it tackles about criminals and their victims. In that trailer, I heard the investigator say the word “crypt”. As illustrated in the movie, it was an underground vault found in an old church in Rome. I was absolutely amazed because there were many treasures and antique stuffs inside the vault, and my guess it was the same as an underground cemetery. It was secret place discovered by the criminals in the movie. I also want to see a crypt soon if I’ll a chance to.

1. Our fourth grading is about to end that is why our projects, reports, assignments, and other activities are in a rush. Sometimes I feel that I am getting clumsy because of the hectic schedule and the tasks to be done both in school and at home. The word clumsy is the best word to describe myself when I am in a hurry. Imagine how I dropped all my things on the floor and some of it broke because of my clumsiness. I want to learn how to take some things in an easy way so that I can avoid the danger that comes with being clumsy. I need to overcome this situation because I am afraid that my classmates will soon call me “weirdo” or worse, “nerd”.

2.
I want to learn from other people that is why I am fond of listening to stories from them. But there are some stories that are meant to destroy other person’s being - gossips that is. Gossips are idle talks especially about other people which can actually destroy someone’s reputation. Gossips are usually stories which are passed through person to person by mouth and do not have any basis at all. We can therefore conclude that some of these stories are true and some are not. Still, we should not rely ourselves on gossips, we must always have a proof because this will help us learn how to trust and to believe from people around us.

3.
I remember the days when I ate meringue almost every hour. Back when I was still I kid, I really loved sweets but I guess I ate too much that is why I don’t want to eat it anymore. It seems like my taste buds are already refusing to taste meringue. Before, I am amazed on how they were made. But when I learned how to make it at school, I found out that it was very easy and even affordable. The only ingredients are sugar and egg whites and with these, you can make your own meringue. I wish I can still enjoy eating these sweets even if I am not a kid anymore.

4.
It was a bright morning and I am asked to buy pandesal in a nearby bakery. While I was walking, a colorful gelatin caught my attention. It looked tasty and mouthwatering. I can’t stop myself from looking onto that gelatin. I wanted to taste it but I remembered that I still had something to buy. When I returned to the place where I saw the gelatin, I saw a lady who was busy doing something. She was making gelatin and those gelatins I saw were for sale. Unfortunately, I never got a taste of that delicacy because I was afraid to disturb the busy lady and she might yell at me too.

5.
I borrowed a book from a friend which is about fashion. The word petticoat caught my eye. It stated that it is a woman’s underskirt. I got curious because it was long and fluffy and then the big expensive gowns were put on top of it. Looking on the picture, I thought to myself that maybe, wearing those dress would make feel hot because the dress was too thick and heavy with the additional petticoat under it. I wanted to try wearing a petticoat but I guess those things are already in museums. Petticoats were used by the American and English ladies during the 1600s. They can’t wear a dress or a gown without a petticoat because these served as their undergarments.

1.) My word for the day is blotch. I chose this word because I always feel irritated whenever I see my grandmother's blotches on her skin. These are located at the shin of her leg. Blotches are white discoloration on the skin that are noticeable. When I asked my grandmother where she got those blotches, she always tell me that it was part of aging. Actually, at first I got scared when I saw her blotches because I thought it was a kind of skin disease. I know that someday, I'll also grow older and will have the same blotches as my grandmother.

2.) It was Tuesday night and I was watching a t.v. series entitled House, M.D. One of the doctors
mentioned hemophilia, so I chose this word for this day. They discussed about the disease and I got interested because my favorite disease was slightly the same as hemophilia. Immunoglobulinemia is also a hereditary disease but unlike hemophilia, this disease is non-curable. Hemophilia is a condition wherein the blood clots very slowly which may lead to death.

3.) Last Saturday, I was busy doing my reports and assignments. I got tired so I got something to
read and to relax. I read a lifestyle magazine and there I found a familiar word, vernicelli, I always hear this word because I am fond of watching cooking shows. I haven't tasted vernicelli but I know how it looks like. It was a strip worm-like macaroni that chefs use in their pasta dishes.

4.) I love animals and I love to watch cartoons. So when I saw the word ichneumon in a certain biology book, I remembered the cartoon program Pokemon. Ichneumons are like weasles and they are commonly from East Mediterranean countries. There is also a parasitic insect also known as Ichneumon Fly. I've always wanted to have an interaction between animals and plants and to know more about them. The ichneumons are just one kind of animal that I would like to encounter.

5.) My chosen word is spectrum for my physics teacher was recently giving assignment about it.
Somehow I liked spectrums because it was colorful and is easy to understand as far as I know. But as our lessons go on, I realized that it wasn't easy after all. Sonic spectrum is my most favorite part of the lesson Mrs. delos Reyes taught us how sounds are heard as well as its ranges. Now that we are already in electromagnetic spectrum, I am not that interested anymore. I don't know why but I am trying to understand every part of it. Spectrums are light bands and I know my mind will enlighten as long as I try my best especially to the strict Mrs. delos Reyes.

1.) Amulet, is my word for the day because when i pass by a charm store, I saw a small unique kind of amulet hanging on one of the shelves. I really liked that amulet so I asked for its price. Unluckily, I wasn't able to buy it because it was too expensive for me.

2.) I chose the word gelid because it has something to do with my friend. My friend acted so cold to me and I can't resist the attitude she has showed me. So I confronted her and asked what the problem was. She did not talk to me and remained gelid.

3.) Opossum is my chosen word because I saw one by accident on television. I was amazed upon seeing that creature. It has a resemblance of a rat because some of its features are the same. Opossums are one of a kind and I hope I will have a chance to see a real one.

4.) I encountered the word whelk when I was reading a menu book. It was stated there, Whelk in Mushroom Sauce. I got interested to that particular recipe so I asked what does whelk means. My sister said, it was a type of marine mollusks that is edible.

5.) I remembered the word cognac when I was watching an episode of Oprah. The guest for that day was John Travolta. As they were having conversation, I heard John saying the word cognac and he repeated it twice. Then one time, I saw an imported brand of brandy made from France. I was happy to know that the word cognac is just a type of liquor - for I thought that it was a vulgar word.
